Lindfield's leafy ridge streets carry a strong run of Federation homes and California bungalows, most built in double brick with tile roofing, sitting well up on the Upper North Shore at around 106 metres. Around the station and village centre, denser unit blocks and the newer Village Hub apartments change the picture again.

The revitalised village centre around the station, including the newer apartments built near the old university site, has added a real strata component to the suburb's plumbing mix. Shared hot water systems and common risers behave differently to a single house line.
